Taking care of your mental health is something that I here at Avalon Media genuinely care about. That is why I have gotten in touch with the people at WhatShed so I can share with you this fantastic infographic. Here you can see why gardening is a great way for you look great, feel great and also have a garden that provides you with food and lovely flowers.
Many people do not realize just how good for you gardening is. We all have a lot going on these days ranging from work, the kids and other family pressures. But gardening is a way that you can leave all that behind and just let go of all that stress. This is something that has actually been scientifically proven. You see people who garden regularly have much lower stress levels.
As well as having lower stress levels, gardening can make you happy. People who garden are much more likely to be happier. First of all, gardening is a lot of fun, but also you are exposing yourself to the bacterium in the soil which can make a person much happier. Growing your own food and then having the satisfaction of making a meal with that food is a great way to give yourself a confidence boost and also have some fun.
It is not just your mental health that gardening is great for. People who enjoy getting out in the garden to grow their own food or tend to their own plants have a much lower BMI than those who do not. This is because gardening is a wonderful way to get exercise. The calories you burn off with just a few hours gardening are comparable to those you would burn off at the gym! Gardening also keeps your mind ticking and your muscles moving so you stay much more active which is a great way to ensure that you are mentally and physically healthy as you get older.
