Friday Finds, Favorites and Fill-Ins # 62

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful week! Once more it is time for the Friday Favorites, Finds, and Fill-Ins post, and I have some cool stuff to share.

I was writing yesterday briefly that I had struggled with diastasis recti after the birth of my second child. For those of you who are pregnant or just had a baby, you should really check out Heidi Powell’s blog for tips on how to recognize this common post-partum problem, as well as how to fix it with gentle exercise.

This morning, I received a spice organizer from a company called YouCopia, so I quickly reorganized my most frequently used purchased spices. As some of you know, I wrote a book about making your own spice mixes, so I have one cabinet that holds those spices, and another that holds the store-bought kind. Because we have so many (we are obviously a foodie family), it is hard to organize them efficiently. You can see the progress I made with the organizer from  YouCopia. While I like the result, I am going to get me a new label maker and replace the labels that came with the spice organizer, because they don’t stick as well as I would like them to.

My favorite book of the week is not a book that is released yet but is already available for pre-order and it is called The Joy Plan by Kaia Roman . I received an ARC copy (advanced reader copy) and I am in love with this practical and handy self-help book, that reads like an entertaining memoir, but is filled with actionable advice, and exercises. If you are looking to improve your life in a positive way, then you should really pre-order it today. I am going to re-read it again soon – yes, it is that good!

Of course, I am also including this week’s Friendly Fill-Ins to this post, and I highly encourage you to partake in this fun and insightful blog hop.

Here are this weeks fill-in sentences:

I have googled _________________________.

I have________________________ on Ebay.

I think                                . ‘

                      thinks                              .

Here are my answers:

I have googled too many things to remember. What did we ever do without google?

I have sold many items on Ebay, starting my business when we still had dial-up (yup, I have been working online for that long). At that time I used to sell seasonal US candy to Germany, which was a big deal back then, especially for Halloween candy. Now Halloween candy – and other US candy is available anywhere in Germany, so I stopped selling those a few years ago. But it was fun and profitable while it lasted.

I think I am going to have one interesting time turning our porch into a cat porch. We have some ideas, but so far we are still working on the execution. My vision for that cat-porch most likely out-performs what is actually going to happen, but, hey why not dream big?

My husband thinks, that this transformation should be relatively easy. But he has never done anything like that. He might have to scale his vision a little back too, lol. Still, I admire his resolve. I will keep you updated on how our porch will actually look like once it is finished (or at least once we start working on the progress)

Now here is a video of someone taking the cat enclosure-thing to the absolute next level (that is what I want to do when we buy our own home and are no longer renting)

As always, don’t forget to enter your own family friendly blog posts into the link up. You can enter as many posts as you want, but please link back one of the hosts, which would be Anna, Camille and of course my own little self.

Have an awesome and blessed weekend!

  1. I did not know you had written a book about blending spices, that is so cool. The Joy Plan sounds good too, I like self-help books and memoirs. Thank you for your great fill-in answers. How sweet of you and your husband to be making a catio for your cats, they are lucky. Have a great weekend!

  2. A cat porch sounds like so much fun for cats! I used to have 2 cats as a teen, and was always sad I couldn’t let them outside. They seemed bored sometimes, but I didn’t want them to catch and kill rodents out there.

    1. Yup, my cat gets in all kinds of trouble, if he gets bored, so I try to keep him as entertained as possible. We just got him a new cat tower, that fits for this apartment this week, and I hope he will like it (it won’t be here until Tuesday). I will probably post pictures next week.

  3. I loved the vid about the cat enclosure! We have a British-managed cafe over here that has about a dozen cats in it and cat playgrounds all through it. They also provide little spray bottles of water if the cats become too interested in your meal. Have a great weekend!

    1. oh my you are lucky, I wish I had a cafe like that close by – probably would not get anything done then, lol. What a great concept. Blessings!

    1. so does mine, but only to go a few feet, and then he is scared to death of any noise. He has problems with his sight, always had, since when he found us (he is a stray cat who started following me one day, and the dogs, loving on my dogs – who like him). So to keep him entertained AND safe, we have to be creative.
